Father’s Day culture around the world

Father’s Day is popular among people since the early twentieth century. Most of the country celebrates the day with a different program.

  1. USA

    In USA Father’s Day is great fun. There not only children but also teens and adult people enjoy the day accordingly. It seems to them as a family reunion, if children live away, they come home to meet dads. Chocolate, flowers, and cards are the traditional way of celebrating.

  2. Brazil

    Brazil celebrates Father’s Day in honour of the patron saint of fathers and grandfathers and the father of Mary, named St. Joachim. Brazilians arrange fests on this day. For the including parades commemorating the military forces.

  3. Australia

    From 1930, Australia dates a holiday on Father’s Day. They celebrate the day with food, gifts, and cards. The day is held on the first Sunday of September month.

  4. Sweden

    Swedish people celebrate Father’s Day in November. On this day, Fathers are treated with traditional breakfast. They also get gifts, cakes. The day welcomed warmly there.

  5. Mexico

    In Mexico, Father’s being appreciated by family members for their deeds around the year. It impacts strongly on family values. It hosts a race on this occasion, named Carrera del Día del Padre. the race was placed in Mexico city’s bosque de Tlalpan, a space used for hiking and jogging. Delicious meals and gift-giving are also a part of Father’s Day in Mexico.

  6. Nepal

    Nepal celebrates religious rituals on this day. They celebrate Gokarna Aunsi, Kushe Aunsi or Buba ko mukh herne din. The ritual mainly takes place in summer. On these occasions, people spend time with their fathers. People pray for fathers who have died. They visit their holy places like Gokarna for praying to their Hindu deity Shiva. They do their rituals for their deceased father. Buddhists went to the Jan Bahal temple on this occasion.

  7. Italy

    On March 19, Italians pay tribute to their fathers in honor of St. Joseph’s Day. This is also true in other Catholic nations, such as Spain and Portugal. Because St. Joseph was a father figure to Jesus Christ as Mary’s husband, the holy day is connected with fathers.

  8. Thailand

    In Thailand, Father’s Day is celebrated by religious rituality. Father’s Day in Thailand celebrated with the birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The date is December 5th. Thai people love the king and they consider him as the father of the nation. On this day everyone wears yellow as it is the official color of Monday, the day of the King’s born. The Canna flower is treated as a masculine plant in Thailand. people start the day by presenting the Canna flower in front of them.

  9. France

    The idea of respecting the father came from Saint Joseph and it’s a very old celebration. Now, La Fête des Pères is held in June and can be found in its recent history (mid-20th century). A company has marketed a campaign of a lighter for people smoking fathers. The idea came from that and in recent times it was replaced by drawings, cakes, small gifts.

  10. India

    Father’s day is still an emerging thing in India. It observes as like the USA. People gift cards and flowers to their father to show affection. Mainly, all over the country children shows love and gratitude for their parents. The family went to a movie, go out for dinner, and picnic on Father’s Day. Different organizations organize cultural programs to show respect for fathers.

  11. Japan

    Flowers play a significant role in the Father’s Day celebration in Japan. people give their parents flowers, sweets, gifts like handmade crafts, full boxes of Japanese sweets. Crab or Prawn is preferred most in lunch or dinner. Also, fathers receive perfumes as well.
